About

Impact Together

Impact Together was conceived by the Mentor Together team as an opportunity to add community leadership skills to the toolkit of skills being built by mentors and mentees. We wanted to revamp the definition of personal empowerment from just individual empowerment to empowerment through social changemaking. It was also seen as an opportunity to give youth mentees and their mentors an opportunity to stand up and address the needs of the urban communities they live in.

We, at Mentor Together, view leadership as an organic process and believe that leaders are neither born nor created. They emerge from within all of us to address the need of the hour. Impact Together aims at empowering young Indians, by giving them an opportunity to make a journey of personal transformation. We envision the emergence of new changemakers in society, who with the help of the connect of a unique mentoring relationship, will be able to empathize with people/communities who have problems, gain in-depth knowledge about these issues, mobilize community support, and co-create innovative practices and solutions that can change these intractable problems.

We hope the enriching experience of Impact Together will help build a bridge between formal education systems and applied practices, and draw a logical relationship between education and action. Lastly, we believe this experience will ignite a fire to expand the horizon of both mentors and mentees, such that their conception of personal empowerment moves from just academic or career progression to inlcude active participation in societal change.
